Joint Mortgage Application (bad credit/good credit)?
Hello,
I would like to buy a house with my girlfriend. Her credit score is 580 and mine is 820. I do not need her income to qualify for the loan. However, we are trying to build her credit score up and would like to have this on her report as well. Seeing we only need my income, will they punish us (by raising the interest rate, or even deny us, etc.)
Thanks,

Find another way to raise her score. Interest rate hits are based on the mid lower score. For example: if your scores are 830, 820 and 810 your mid score is 820; if hers where 595, 580 and 550, her mid score is 580. Because her mid score is the lower of the 2, the interest rate calculations would go off of 580. AND, you are going to get a crappy interest rate because of it.
You are better off making her a co-signer on a credit card that you are in good standing with.
